Initial thoughts: Reminded me of Enders Game and Garth Nix. Definitely kept me hooked. So, where's the next book?

Review: There was a lot going on in this book and I was intrigued from the get-go. I was a little hesitant initially because it seemed eerily similar to Ender's Game, but the story soon diverged into an interesting and different plot. It had cool elements, surprising twists, and unexpected alliances that kept me rushing towards the ending. I almost couldn't put it down because it was so intense and I really wanted to know what was going to happen next. How on earth was this going to end?! I couldn't see how things would work out, and in a sense, I was a little bit did had some unexpected twists and even some shocking betrayals.

Now I'm hoping the second book will heal some of damage. I was a little surprised by the ending and it took a little while to sink in. I don't know how the next book is going to fix everything, but I"ll definitely be picking it up. And what's crazy is that I almost didn't pick this book up from ALA because I hadn't heard of the author and the cover didn't catch my eye. But I'm so glad I DID snag it because it turned out to be one of the best books from my haul!
