ARCS I'm STOKED about that I picked up at ALA 2013 in Chicago!

Well, I now have another hefty stash of books. Thanks ALA for feeding this never-ending obsession. But seriously. I came home with 130 new books to add to my ever-disappearing-shelf space. But how could I NOT go to ALA?

And while I still recuperating from the weekend of ALA craziness (ei, me going up and down the publisher aisles to see what new ARCs they were putting out and then carrying them all in my newly acquired totes) I did manage to sort my books into piles. And n
ow I want to share with you the books I picked up at ALA that I'm MOST EXCITED to read.

Of course, if you want to see the full list of books I picked up click here.

Books I'm SUPER EXCITED ABOUT (in order of pub date):

Crown of Midnight
 by Sarah J. Maas
Pub date: Aug. 27, 2013
Bloomsbury

Um, hello, ever since finishing Throne of Glass I've been anxious to get my hands on a sequel! I'm expecting great things from this novel and spunky heroine!

Year of the Jungle by Suzanne Collins, illustrated by James Proimos
Pub date: Sept. 1, 2013
Scholastic Press

I've been a fan of Suzanne Collins since before The Hunger Games. So duh, I'm excited for a picture book written by her!

Fire and Ash by Jonathan Maberry
Pub date: Sept. 3, 2013
Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers

Ever since reading Rot and Ruin I've been HOOKED on this post-apocalyptic zombie thriller. I mean, I'm normally not a zombie fan at all, but I can handle this book and I'm always sitting on the edge of my seat wondering HOW ON EARTH THEY'RE GOING TO SURVIVE WHEN SURROUNDED BY ZOMBIES. And I got it SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR!

The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Pub date: Nov. 5, 2013
Disney Hyperion

Jennifer Lynn Barnes is my professor. It still feels crazy to say that. I took a YA class with her last semester and it was AMAZING. Now I want to read all her books and so I was super excited that I got an ARC of her latest series!

These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
Pub date: Dec. 10, 2013
Disney Hyperion

Well, I've only been in love with this cover since the moment I laid eyes on it. I'm a sucker for insta-cover-love. And it's a sci-fi space novel? Yes, please!

Cress by Marissa Meyer
Pub date: Feb. 4, 2014
Feiwel and Friends

I pretty much WHIPPED through Cinder and Scarlet. And this novel is about Rapunzel? Heck yeah I'm excited! And not having to wait until 2014 is a HUGE plus. Like, major.

Dangerous by Shannon Hale
Pub date: Apr. 1, 2014
Bloomsbury

I've loved Shannon Hale's worlds since The Goose Girl. There's something so fantastic about her characters and storytelling. So you know I'm super pumped to see this completely NEW direction she's taking with this edgy-looking book.

Flesh and Bone by Jonathan Maberry
Pub date: Sept. 11, 2012
Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers

*Please see earlier reference to Fire and Ash. Same reasoning. Also got this book signed. Booyah!

Son
 by Lois Lowry
Pub date: Oct. 2, 2012
Houghton Mifflin Books for Children

The conclusion to THE GIVER. ALL the excitement. I bought this and had LOIS LOWRY SIGN IT AND THEN SHE EVEN LET ME TAKE A PICTURE WITH HER. My childhood idol!

Splintered
by A. G. Howard
Pub date: Jan. 1, 2013
Amulet Books

I've had my eye on this book for a while - so when they had ARCs with a sneak peak for the sequel, I was totally thrilled!

Deception
by C.J. Redwine
Pub date: Aug. 27, 2013
Balzer + Bray

Sequel to Defiance, which I've had my eye on for a while because of the gorgeous cover and intriguing premise!

All Our Yesterdays
by Cristin Terrill
Pub date: Sept. 3, 2013
Disney Hyperion

I've been highly recommended this book and it has such an intriguing premise! So many books I've picked up look very thriller-iffic. Don't know how I'll be able to read them all without getting an ulcer.

The Boy on the Porch
 by Sharon Creech

HarperCollins

Love Sharon Creech. Her writing is beautiful and poignant.

Loved his YA books - so I'm looking forward to seeing what he does for middle grade readers.

The Dream Thieves
 by Maggie Stiefvater

Sequel to The Raven Boys, which I haven't read, but has been high on my to-do list ever since The Scorpio Races came out.

All the Truth That's in Me
 by Julie Berry

Viking Juvenile

Been a fan since The Amaranth Enchantment.

Teardrop
 by Lauren Kate
Pub date: Oct. 22, 2013

This looked pretty good.
