I’m not sure why, but I read what seemed like a slew of baking/cooking books in a short time span. I feel like that just happens and I’m not sure why or how. Like that one time I read 3 mermaid books in a row, or that other time I read several historical fiction novels about medieval court intrigue back-to-back. Anyway, I think this was the first in a series of books that only made me pine for cake.

I liked the story, it was pretty sweet (no pun intended) and had elements of humor and a good message. There were times I was annoyed with the main character though, I wished she’d make up her mind/see what was in front of her. I didn't have a good handle on some of the side character either and thought their interaction was a little shallow. And while I enjoyed the story, it wasn’t something I’d recommend. It was quick and had a nice ending, but didn't do a lot for me.
