The illustrations were different than I had imagined for some reason. I had picked it up because of the cover and I guess I was just surprised because the cover art and inside illustrations didn’t necessarily sync for me. The pictures were sophisticated and realistic, which was nice, just different from what I had expected. The story was very much like a fairy tale, especially with the way the story flowed and how it ended. It was an interesting story line. I didn’t see it ending that way, but I still kind of liked it. There was one particular moment in the story I loved:

“You haven’t been munched!” cried Mrs. Hope.
“You haven’t been crunched!” cheered Mr. Hope
“You haven’t been eaten!” yelled Maurice Hope (missing a poetic opportunity.”

I laughed when I read that. I love moments where the author shares a private joke with readers.
