I fell in love with the illustrations. They were seemingly simplistic, but had so much color and personality. The author painted on pieces of wood and you could still see the wood grain throughout all of the pages - which was super cool. It this kind had this ethereal feel. I also loved how the colors bled from one to another. Even though there were rainbows and other blends, none of it felt messy or cluttered; it was a good balance. I really cannot stress how much I adored the pictures! The story was fairly sweet, but it was the illustrations that truly shined in this book. So much so that now I want to read any other books Stoop has published! Definitely a recommend.
