Review #1409 Z is for Moose by Kelly Bingham
Z is for Moose by Kelly Bingham, illustrated by Paul O. Zelinsky
Rating: two stars (out of four)
While I thought the idea for this story were pretty hilarious, I didn't feel like the follow through was as good. I'm not sure why I didn't love it, because it's straight up my alley for humor, but it didn't click. I also wasn't a huge fan of the illustrations, I thought they needed to be more polished. Although I did like how the moose decided to color in his own pictures. It made me sad when the zebra decided to use the mouse instead of the moose - especially after he had been waiting for so long. That seemed mean and unwarranted. And then that explained a little why the moose went on such a rampage. The ending was supposed to resolve all the previous tension and restore the light-heartedness, but it felt off. This book was a little bit of a disappointment and I probably wouldn't recommend.
