Cricket’s future stepsisters make it clear they’re not happy about the marriage. An old friend decides this is the week to declare his love for Cricket. Grandpa chooses to reveal a big secret at a family gathering. Dan’s ex-wife shows up. And even the dogs—Cricket’s old, ill Jupiter and Dan’s young, lively Cruiser—seem to be declaring war.

Book Review #1343 Birds of a Feather by Vanita Oelschlager

Book Review #1343
Birds of a Feather by Vanita Oelschlager, illustrated by Robin Hegan
Rating: one star (out of four)

I really liked the premise of this book. I've always been fascinated with idioms and I can imagine what children must think when they hear some of these crazy expressions. This book offered a fairly straight forward approach:  it featured illustrations mimicking the idiom and then explained what the idiom really meant, covering some of the most common expressions. I wasn't a big fan of the book; the illustrations weren't my favorite. But I can see other people liking it.
