Book Review #935
Feather by Jacqueline Woodson
Rating: three stars (out of four)

The simplistic style in which this story was written and the author's lyrical descriptions made this an enriching tale. The book was set up in a simple manner and I loved how it was all balanced on a quote by Emily Dickinson. I read this novel in one sitting and while I thought it dealt with some heavy issues, I didn't feel like it dove very deep into them, but instead skirted around the shallow end. I think this book was written to keep you wondering, to make you ask questions and then seek out the answers on your own. I liked this book, but I didn't feel an overwhelming sense of completion when I finished it. I enjoyed it, but I still kind of wish it had been more substantial.
