Book Review #894
The Lion and the Mouse by Jerry Pinkney
Rating: four stars (out of four)

Gorgeous illustrations! There was so much rich detail and color embedded into every page in this story. The different swirls and shapes made up vivid and realistic characters. This story had no text, but the pictures more then made up for the story. The illustrations of the little mouse were so well done that I felt like I knew his personality and some of his mannerisms - he was charming and cute. The lion was majestic and fierce. I thought this was a remarkable book and could envision myself reading it over and over. Definitely worthy of the Caldecott Medal.
