Book Review #872
Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen
Rating: four stars (out of four)

This is one of my favorite Austen novels because of the interaction between the two sisters. I can see a part of myself in both of the sisters, but I think I can definitely relate more to Elinor because I am not as romantic as Marianne. I love the tension between the characters and the miscommunication that Austen has cleverly spread throughout the text. It really leaves the reader guessing - not sure what they will find out - but knowing that something dramatic is going to happen. I've read this novel before and I've seen several of the movies, but there is nothing quite like the words Austen has written - they have a certain way of getting straight to your heart. I also can't see how I missed out on so much of the humor when I read them as a young teen. This is 19th century snarkiness and I love it.
