Book Review #828
Forest Born by Shannon Hale
Rating: four stars (out of four)

Initial thoughts right after reading the book: AH! I love Shannon Hale! I am pulled into her novel through the vivid description and imagery of this enchanting land and characters. I laughed and had tears in my eyes, I thoroughly enjoyed this fantasy novel.

Review: Shannon Hale has such a way with writing that her sentences seem to dance across the page. I love her descriptions and I can always picture the scenery and particular expressions of the characters. While I didn't like this book as much as The Goose Girl I really enjoyed it and liked Rin and her struggles. I also love how Shannon magically worked in a plot twist you never would have dreamed of into the story and you are left going, "How did I not see that coming?!" It was nice to see some of my favorite older characters in this book as well, and I didn't realize until after I had finished the book that Rin didn't have a major boy she was into. But it didn't take away from the story...and only makes me assume that another book will be in the works? I would definitely recommend this book.
