Book Review #571
The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin
Rating: three stars (out of four)
This book was a different than what I expected, but I kind of liked the strangeness. It was an intriguing concept and I kept reading the book to see what would happen at the end. I'm not sure why this won the Newbery Medal, I thought it was a unique premise and all, but I'm not quite convinced it was worthy of that high honor. The ending was kind of random, but I felt it suited the book. For a while after reading, I couldn't figure out where I stood on my opinion of this book and it took a little while for my thoughts to sink in. But overall, I found it an entertaining read and would probably recommend to others.
